Dry eye occurs when your tears aren't able to provide adequate lubrication for your eyes. Tears can be inadequate and unstable for many reasons, mainly reduced volume or of poor quality.
Dry eyes frequently feel uncomfortable. Your eyes may sting or burn. You may experience dry eyes in certain situations, such as on an airplane, in air-conditioning, while outdoors, or after looking at a computer, tablet, or cell phone. But many times there are no symptoms, usually because that’s the way your eyes have felt for so long it seems natural.
